Fantastic hotel and local beach

Just returned from two weeks stay in fact the first weeks the hotel and island opened for this year’s season, another perfect holiday and well looked after by the staff. The lady manager for many years as transferred to another Riu and the young lady who was her assistant for the last two years is the one overseeing things and doing a good job.

The main change we think is the separate sittings for evening dinner are gone, and dining is open between 18:30 and 21:30 with no set table, tables seem closer together. One only gets the line of welcome from the staff if arriving at 18:30 which we did along with the other regulars and we had no problem sitting in the same area of the restaurant we all usually have done.

The food is brilliant, so much to chose from the buffet, and we sat outside on a little verandah when we could, it was so peaceful. There is a small convenience shop up the road and easy to walk to, to buy water and snacks for days out or the beach.

Talking of the beaches, they are stunning. Really close to the hotel and also hire a bike to get to the other side of the island which is more touristy really with day-trippers from Ibiza.

Bikes best way to get around the island, a bit scary but we made it. I did the driving and found it excellent. By the staff recommendations, we will hire a driver in cozumel to know this island on our next trip to Mexico.

Round near the hotel is a little cove we went to most days, it gets busy but lots of space. Be prepared for nude bathing, we were warned by my brother and his fiancée and were looking forward to trying it out. We weren’t disappointed.

Nobody looks, and it feels so lovely. Take care with sunscreen, you need it. Our room neighbors were there too, so funny to be with them on that beach, we had such a good laugh. Thanks, Rob and Susie. Sad to be moving on, but recommend this lovely hotel, and hope to be back one day.
